Maybank, Nestle and Petronas Emerge Top Local Picks For Undergraduates

SUBANG JAYA, Selangor, Oct 17 (Bernama) — Maybank, Nestle and Petronas was announced as the top three employer brands of choice for undergraduates at the 2018 Graduates Choice Award ceremony, held today.

Petroliam Nasional Berhad won the Best Graduate Employer Brand 2018 under the Engineering category, with Maybank winning the Banking category, AirAsia for the E-Commerce category and Sunway Group won under the Real Estate category.

Other winners of the award include IKEA Malaysia in the Retail category, AIA Bhd in the Insurance category, Nestle in the FMCG category, Shell Business Operations in the Shared Services Category, Microsoft in the ICT category and PWC Malaysia in the Accounting & Professional Services category.

Y.Brs. Dr. Mohd. Nor Azman bin Hassan, the Deputy Director General for Higher Education (Private Sector), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) represented Dr Maszlee Malik, Minister of Education at the ceremony to present the awards to representatives from the winning companies.

‘The Graduates’ Choice Award celebrates and recognises excellence among organisations that goes above and beyond in bridging the gap between the industry and academia’, said Dr. Mohd Nor Azman. ‘This is imperative to achieving the government’s commitment to transforming the education system of Malaysia to be able to keep up with the ever-changing and rising tides of global industry climates’, he added.

‘This year’s Graduates’ Choice Award is a huge success with overwhelming participation from the corporate organisations and universities’, said HRINCAMPUS’ founder and chief executive officer Ben Ho. ‘I believe this shows that employers understand the importance of reaching out to these undergraduates, and is increasingly making new graduates recruitment a strategic part of their overall recruitment process’, he said.

The 2018 Graduates’ Choice Award ceremony, attended by over 400 people consisting of members from the private and public institutions of higher learning, student leaders, representatives from the various corporate organisations and invited guests, was held at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Center.

This inaugural award saw university undergraduates from more than 100 campuses across the country voting for their preferred employer brands among a total of 360 number of companies that was nominated across 10 different categories.
